Index Ink - Andrew Bigelow Edit

Heres another edit from Jake Vanderweyden, this time of Index Inks Andrew Bigelow.

Bigelow has been on fire over the past year and every edit he puts out is always packing some bangers; This one is NO exception!

That box may look small in video but thats because Bigs is just making it look simple, don't let it fool you.

Be sure to check out Index Ink aswell: "Index Ink"

Titanic Clothing - Colin Heggarty Winter Edit

Colin just posted this edit that Jake Vanderweyden filmed over the past little while with him.

It completley blew my mind on how fast Colin has been progressing!

The box he barspins is by far the scariest box I've hit, and he makes it looks easy with a bar and 360.

Colin has been getting hooked up by Titanic Clothing for a while now so be sure to check out their stuff here: "Titanic Clothing Website"

Alpine Valley

Yesterday my friend Dylan and I went out to Alpine Valley in Pontiac, Michigan for a few hours of snowboarding.

This is only my second time ever snowboarding and I gotta say, I now have something to do come next winter! So much fun.

Here's just a couple of photos from the day when we decided to take some breaks and snap some shots.

Dylan Margerison - Roastbeef

This was definitely one of the funnest jumps to start off the day and get both of us into the swing of things again.

Dylan has these Roastbeefs dialed, no exception on this one.

I really wanted to get a shot of him carving and kicking up snow, but with one failed attempt of him running into the fence we had to settle with the carve without snow.

I also got Dylan to grab a shot of me so I had something to get rid of my bloody face on facebook.

Chase Davidson - Shifty Roastbeef

Just wanna give a shout out to Jayde Cunningham for landing his first Tailwhip Air at the contest aswell as Alex Passa for pulling his first Flair at the contest aswell. So much progression coming from them two!

Photography

One way or another, people have different reasons for wanting to shoot photography; They also have different things they would rather take photos of.

There is a few local photographers who are amazing at their work and I just want to give them a few shout outs and to show anyone that hasn't seen there stuff what they are missing out on.

Since I don't have too much to work with latley due to the excessive amount of snow we have been getting the past week I'm going to spread each of them out over the next few days.

First off is:

Donnie Johnston aka Twenty Three Photography

One thing that stands out the most to me about Dons work is the places and spots he gets into in order to take these photos, not to mention his interest in B&W. Unreal to say the least.
Detroit - Twenty Three Photography

Here's another photo of what I'm talking about and make sure to check out his own blog aswell ... "Twenty Three Photography"

Eli Taylor - Stranger Spare Clips

Rich Hirsch just posted up this new edit of Eli throwing down some street moves for Stranger. He may or may not have the craziest ADD in the world but he knows how to put it to good use.

Winter Igloo

I started making my own snow fort a few weeks ago that some may have seen on my facebook page.

Well yesterday I went out to my buddy Camerons house to help work on his fort and this thing topples mine BIG time.

Check it out...

Note* This is still in the process of being built and I will have further photos to show the progression.

Jalen Pickard - Couple Indoor Clips

Jalen is a quiet guy but absolutely kills it on the streets. Not to mention that I am super jealous of those stylish whips. He just sent me this yesterday and it has some of those street moves brought indoors at Rizzis Bike & Skatepark.

Monday Mornings

I went out this morning to get some shots but didn't really get anything crazy that I liked.
Being stuck in the middle of nowhere kinda limits what there is too shoot, even still I got these two pictures that I was somewhat happy with before it wasn't technically "Sunrise" anymore.

This next one, I went with B&W cause I thought it showed nicely how the bright snow and sky was divided by the trees.

Sunday School - How To Barspin

This Sunday marks up the first of the Sunday School How To's.

This one comes out of Rizzi Bike & Skatepark thanks to Jake Vanderweyden behind the lens.

Listen to Cody Sisler do a pretty thorough walkthrough on how to barspin and then go out and throw some b's yourself!

North Bay and Beyond

So today is kinda a slow day for things, so I'm just going to post a few other pictures from my North Bay/Timmins trip last year other then the ones I've already posted before.

Seeing something like this just driving down the road is a sight in itself.

Field of Yellow

Entire fields were filled with whatever this is.

There was no way I was going to pass up an oppurtunity to take a picture.

Pulled over to the side of the road took some shots and continued on.

Getting closer to Timmins the scenary just kept getting better and better, hills after hills of the most amazing landscape I've yet to see.

Tiny rapids
This was shot up near Sudbury, on the way back from Timmins.

I didn't even get a chance to see the big nickel that Sudbury has but I'm sure it can't be much better then this.

I venture into the bush for about 30 minutes till I ran into this, I was really hoping to run into a Moose or Bear during the trip but neither occured.

As I mentioned in one of the earlier blogs, I went to "Camp Pickle" to see my cousin at work.

Camp Pickle - Dock looking over the lake

This was their dock, a few seconds earlier this lake was infested with children but once they were back inside it was time to get some photos.

That pretty much sums up the rest of my photos from the trip, I'll leave one more down below aswell.

Febuary's Friday Interview w/ Tyler Rizzi

So this months friday interview is coming out at the beginning due to a contest quickly approaching at the new Rizzi's Bike & Skatepark in St. Thomas, Ontario. Formerly known as 'Industry' to anyone who hasn't been around for the past few months now.

I was lucky enough to get Tyler's attention to fill out these 21 questions when he wasn't busy working at the park or shredding on his rainbow coloured bike. Thanks Rizzi!

Name: Tyler Rizzi
Age: 21
H
ometown: Hunstville, ON
Years Riding:
2

1.) What was the biggest influence on you that made you want to start biking?
Well one of my friends used to bike abit and he used to do cat walks and stuff on his Zellers bike. I thought it was the coolest thing, so i got out my sportek and started practising like everyday. The feeling you get when you learn something biking is just awesome, it makes you want to learn more, and it also helps stress and get things off my mind.

2.) A lot of riders still recall their first ever BMX, how about you?
Funny thing, I swore by mtb and said I would never ride bmx; But my bike got stolen right when the snow was melting and I wanted to ride so bad after not riding the whole winter. So I picked up this cheap bmx, an Integeral Bel Air. I wasnt stoked, but after a while i got used to it and loved it.

3.) I notice you travel quite a bit between St. Thomas and Hunstville. How do the different riding scenes compare?
Well huntsville just recently got an outdoor park 2 years ago, so the scene is kinda just starting. Alot of the smaller kids have gotten into it up there, but the surrounding cities like Barrie, North Bay, Gravenhurst and Sudbury (shout out to ryan eles hes the man!! ) all had pretty good riders.

4.) Is it true what they say about Huntsville… You gotta hide yo kids, hide yo wife?
 hahahahaha oh you know it.

5.) You have had some pretty serious crashes in 2010, few head plants to say the least. What motivates you to get back up and just keep given it?
Haha yeah, parents weren't to happy about that. The first one in March on that rail was pretty stupid I'll admit, that was probably my first major crash bmxing. It didn't really phase me at all, I went riding the next day haha. The one a few weeks after that, knocking my 2 front teeth out really messed me up. I'm still dealing with the after affects till this day, I didn't ride for probably a month and a half after that, partly because of surgeries and stuff, but mainly because i was scared shitless. Eventually a got back to where I was feeling comfortable on my bike. Everything has changed since that day, I think alot about what I'm doing before i do it. To everyone reading this i suggest you wear a helmet and a mouth gaurd when you ride #realtalk.

6.) Just recently your dad (Dan Rizzi) bought the old Industry Skatepark; Thats gotta be pretty sweet owning your own indoor park, right?
It's a dream come true. It's alot more work then I expected, but it's all worth it. Never thought the day would come.

7.) There was a lot of names going around when it first opened up like Revolution, Ramp Riders and even Rizzilution, what made you decide to choose Rizzi's Bike & Skatepark?
Yeah, we had Revolutionz and a couple other names floating around, Rizzi's actually not being one of them. As you know everyone usually just calls me by Rizzi, not Tyler. It's kind of a catchy name, so we just went with that and it seems to be working pretty well. It's kinda weird for me to say "Hey, come to Rizzis" though haha, so i call it the park.

8.) It really looks like you and your dad are doing a lot of changes inside, what kind of things do you wish to do and/or have accomplished so far?
Yeah, over the past couple months of opening we have done alot. A big one was doing the new set up out in the park, thanks to the 20 or so people that came out and helped for the 5 hours it took. Other than that, painting, re-arranging, Xbox, 55 inch big screen tv, heat, hot water, our main goal was to make the lobby area alot better for new people coming in and for the riders to hang out. We're basically done with that now, so we've started working on the park. In the works right now is the new box jump, it's lookin sick. As for other stuff, it's gunna be a suprise haha.

9.) There is a BMX Competition coming up on the 13th of February (at Rizzi's Bike & Skatepark), care to give a quick rundown on how thats going to work?
Indeed there is, we made the divisions by skill level, not age. It may work, or may not, I guess we'll find out. Divisions are Beginner - 20$, AM - 25$, AM Advanced - $25 and Pro - $30. Practice and sign up is from 9 am to 11:30 am. Comp starts at 12 noon. The Monster truck should be here and were hoping to have John Heaton announcing. After the comp, everyone can stay and hang out too. Even if your not riding it, come out and check it out.

10.) Which sponsors are lined up for the event?
Well for right now we have Comfort Inn, Monster, Coca Cola, and my dads in the process of trying to deal with all the shops in the surrounding area, we wont know exactly for another little bit.

Photo Cred: Jake Harrison

11.) Speaking of contests; Your all signed up for the 2011 Toronto BMX Jam in March. Who are you looking forward to seeing ride there?
Yes sirrr. I'll be stoked just being there with all my friends having a good time.

12.) Seeing that Rizzi's Bike & Skatepark sees a lot of riders each day; Who do you ride with the most?
I ride almost everyday with Jake Vanderweyden, new rider Randy Down comes out alot, he's gettin pretty good. Other then that just the normal locals and the out of town guys that come every weekend... I'm lovin it.

13.) Your last edit was your best yet and your dipped 3's are getting ridiculous, been working on anything else lately?
Haha thanks man, cant wait till that new jump is done so I can start throwin down some 720's. Oh, and yeah, fuck tail whips.

14.) I gotta ask… Has your right foot found the pedal yet?
It found the pedal yesterday, but sadly enough into foam haha

15.) Your bike always has a rainbow paintjob feel to it, what makes you choose to ride the rainbow?
Everyone elses bike just looks kinda plain, they all look the same. I rarely see a bright outstanding bike, but when I do I love it haha

16.) The typical put your iPod on shuffle
question… Name the first 5!?
Aggro Santos Feat Kimberly Wyatt - Candy
Dux Jones - Pourin it on
Pretty Lights - Almost Familiar
Brad Sucks - Making me nervous
Illaj - Airplane

17.) There is so many bikers out there popping up all over the place just killin' it. Who do you think has really made a name for himself/themselves during 2010?
People always make jokes about how I love Ryan Taylor, but honestly the kids like 17 and he's nuts. His videos just keep getting crazier, and I love his style. Along with Drew Bezanson of course.

18.) Any plans for 2011?
Plan to not faceplant? hahaha

19.) Gucci or Waka Flocka?
Brick Squaaaaaaaaad !!

20.) Thanks, shout outs and whatever else?
Thanks to you for doin this interview with me, it was great. Thanks to all the people who have helped out and supported and are supporting us. A few solo shout outs, one to Jarret Feairs, he's done alot with our website and all that kinda good stuff. Aaron Kittelberger, he's done more then anyone as far as building in the park, and hes a skatebaorder. Be nice to the boarders haha. Jake and Bigelow have done alot to so thanks to them and all the others, you know who you are, and especially my dad. We couldnt have done it without any of you guys so thanks so much !! Ridaaaaaaaz

21.) You have 21 words to finish this off, lets see what ya got!

Editors Note* When asked for 21 words, this was what I got hahaha
Ryan Taylor, Ryan Taylor, Ryan Taylor, Ryan Taylor, Ryan Taylor, Ryan Taylor, Ryan Taylor, Ryan Taylor, Ryan Taylor, Ryan Taylor, Ryan Taylor, Ryan Taylor, Ryan Taylor, Ryan Taylor, Ryan Taylor, Ryan Taylor, Ryan Taylor, Ryan Taylor, Ryan Taylor, ridaaaaaaaaaaaazzzzzzzzz, grindaaaaaaaaaaazzzzzzzz !!

Industry Skatepark

The first ever indoor skatepark I ever went to was Industry Skatepark (Now Rizzi's Bike & Skatepark) in St. Thomas, Ontario.

It was about 3 or 4 years ago now when I first went there and even though the ramps weren't Woodward or crazy smooth. It always had the most chill dudes there and everyone was there for the same reason, to have a good time.

Over those years I've been going there, I've met a bunch of new guys and seen alot of younger shredders really come up. There is so many locals to the park that I wouldn't even know where to start with names, so I'm going to post a few photos I've taken with some of them:

Even though Cody is from Sarnia, he's basically one of the locals at the park.

Everytime I'm there he's there, and if you see him around there now, he'll probably have a GoPRO strapped on his bike or his crotch.

Dylan Margerison - Backflip Gone Wrong

Now the first time I went there my whole intention was to learn how to backflip. Just recently my friend Dylan and I drove up and it was him that really wanted to learn how to flip this time.

It was almost identical to what happened to me the first time, upside down and then stopped looking back. Anyone that knows how to flip will tell you, keep looking back!

Otherwise you end up in this position here haha
*Dylan walked away sore but walking.

This final picture to close of the Industry shots is of the new owner's son Tyler Rizzi.

Tyler just recently learned how to barspin when this picture was taken, but check back tomorrow for this months Friday Interview with him and to see his latest edit that Jake Vanderweyden put together for him.

2010' Summer Toronto Trip

During the summer last year Cody Sisler, Rob Harvey, Eli Taylor and I drove up to Toronto to ride, shoot some pics and have a good time.

Our first stop was at Joyride skatepark, no pictures were taken while we were there but Eli and I decided to me a quick edit on the upledge.

The next day we went out and found some street spots thanks to randomly meeting up with Spencer, who was waiting for the BMXFU guys to get there aswell.

Spencer Bryant-Longo - Pegs to Fakie

If your ever in Toronto to ride, you must check out the rainbow hip; The most run up you could ask for a smooth transition.

This one here of Spencer with Eli getting vid cred. was another solid trick to go down.

When Eli's not taking over filming duties, he's a solid shredder on the bike aswell, this perfect setup was just calling his name the next day and he fired it off without a problem.

Eli Taylor - Ruben Wallride

With the rest of the crew in the back and Charlie Crumlish behind the lens, Eli throws down a solid Ruben from the ledge to the right.

Shots In The Dark

You may or may not have noticed but out of all my pictures, none have really been true "Night" shots.

I've always been interested in doing some but never really bothered to take the time and setup.

Now that I have this blog, I find I have alot more motivation to go out and shoot new photos, the other day my friend Nick Seman came over and picked me up and we went for a little cruise to get some night shots.

Again, these are my first ever shots in the dark so they're not the best.

First of many night shots.
This was our first stop on our mini tour. I always liked photos of the streaky line that cars leave behind.

Since we went out late at night, it was rare for two cars to go by at the same time, the one time it did happen I was still setting up.

Thankfully Nick offered to drive across when another car turned which worked out perfect.

Thanks Nick!

Church Front View

Now seeing as this was my first time, I didn't quite have the hang of it and only walked away with a couple pictures.

Heres another one of the church from a closer view.

And the picture below is of an industrial building, which worked out really well as the only truck to ever drive through there just so happened to go perfectly during the shot.

I'm pretty happy by the way things turned out, really hoping I can get out again for some more night shots soon!
